Becker Leaves Behind a Legacy Of Helping People With Disabilities, The Legal Intelligencer, June 27, 2006

Law Center lawyer Thomas K. Gilhool and intern Thomas Neville published a Commentary in the Philadelphia Inquirer on June 15, 2006 concerning the Pennsylvania Legislature's constitutional responsibility to address the Commonwealth's widespread school funding inequality. Ranked 43rd worst among the states in school funding inequality, with 80% of its school districts suffering from the inequity, school funding is Pennsylvania's most pressing and majoritarian issue. The Commentary acknowledged efforts of the Statewide Coalition to Close the Gap to ascertain and publicize the commitments or not, of Pennsylvania's legislative candidates for the 2006 general election to ending this school funding inequality. The piece also emphasized the responsibility of the press to make Pennsylvania's school funding inequality and candidates' positions regarding it, a prominent issue of legislative integrity and accountability in forthcoming elections.
